VERSE OF THE WEEK
They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved. – 2 Peter 2:19
Defend the Faith
The apostle Peter was concerned about false teachers and false prophets presenting themselves as truth-tellers who were infiltrating the early church. Jude also wrote in his letter that they had “crept in unnoticed.” In today’s world, corruption is appearing on every corner—in news stories and on social media, it seems to be the single-most used word of the day. “For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who prevent the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ“ (Jude 4). What is his solution? Contend for the faith (verse 3). God wants you to be intentional and committed in this time of great spiritual warfare. As the Amplified Bible stated, “Fight strenuously for the defense of the faith.” As you do, have confidence that He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
